Nicolas Khalili (HWO Architects) approached us, on behalf of Lakes by YOO, about creating images for their latest waterfront homes. They’ve been designing, selling and building homes on a 650 acre estate in Gloucestershire, just 90 minutes from London. Their countryside setting and proximity to the capital made the goal of the images clear: to sell the countryside to the city dweller.
The images needed to show the tranquillity, privacy and remoteness of the countryside – the benefits of escaping the rat race of the city. We created two main images, one for each house type, to be used for a full page advert in the weekend edition of the Financial Times. The composition of the images, anchoring the homes to the bottom of the page, allowed for plenty of space to add the copy. Additionally we created a series of vignettes, giving glances into the two homes, showing what life could be like in the countryside.

The client and his funder were really impressed and could immediately understand the project. Working with little drawn information, Harris Kalinka captured this early concept in a set of very dynamic images which sold the project better than any description. It’s as persuasive as a beautiful sketch, but with computer precision. That’s exactly what we needed to sell the idea and move forward.
