The Country Club of Detroit (CCD), founded in 1897, is home to an 18-hole Championship Course originally designed by Harry S. Colt and later updated by Colt/Alison, Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Tom Doak.
The Club also features a 60-year-old Short Course and a century-old Driving Range, both of which are the subject of a comprehensive redesign by golf course architect Brian Slawnik of Renaissance Golf Design. The goal of the project is to match the same high standard of the Club’s Championship Course, with a strong emphasis on player development, creativity and enjoyment.
The proposed plans are being presented to the membership through a series of focus groups and a Town Hall meeting ahead of a vote in October.
To support these presentations, the Club engaged us to create a short animation and a series of renderings that bring the vision to life, helping members better understand the proposed improvements and make an informed decision.
The visuals were developed from Brian’s concept plan. While the final shape, size, and grading of golf features will be refined during construction, the animation and renderings provide a realistic representation of how the Short Course and Practice Facilities are expected to look upon completion.
The Club is targeting a construction start date of July 2027, with project completion anticipated in May 2028.
