La Rinconada

Once again, we had the pleasure of working with Todd Eckenrode of Origins Golf Design, this time on his renovation of the golf course at La Rinconada Country Club, located in Los Gatos, California.

In addition to improvements to the green complexes, fairway lines and a significant amount of turf reduction, Todd proposed to reverse the direction of play on several holes to improve connection and walkability.

The aesthetic of the course will be an ‘old California’ look with the native oaks, open meadows and natural dry creeks. The bunkering style will be a more irregular and natural edge reminiscent of the style of the late 1920’s.

We worked closely with both Todd and Andy Kimball (General Manager at La Rinconada) on the finer details of the design, but also on crafting a presentation that would successfully communicate the proposed course to the membership. This process involved carefully selecting the camera angles, showing a combination of eye-level and elevated views to give the members both a close-up look of the features and an overall understanding of the new layout.

The purpose of the visuals was to present Todd’s vision to the Club and drive membership support so the proposed vision can become a reality.

The project has gained tremendous support of the membership and will be up for approval in the fall of 2024.
